Why stop in Texas? For a short time from 2004-2006 I lived in Austin. I met Angelique when she hired me as a marketing consultant to help her develop and launch the education program for Keller Williams Realty. While I was there, the company grew from 30k agents to 80k agents, so needless to say, we had a crazy ride together creating some of the first digital and online training tools in the country. (And doing research for Gary Keller's NYT best selling book, The ONE Thing.)
Angelique and I have remained friends since then, visiting one another when I moved to San Francisco and she moved to Dallas. In the middle of 2019, she and her husband purchased a horse farm, MeadowCreek Park Equestrian Center, in Kosse, Texas. She'd had enough of developing products and programs for companies. Angelique wanted a lifestyle that would incorporate what she loved and be surrounded by the people she cared about. She didn't just want a job.
After 10+ months of living in a pandemic-frightened San Francisco, I was completely overjoyed to be on Angelique's farm. The wide-open spaces made me feel free. I stayed in her Pottery Barn model cottage and woke up to horses in the pasture. Little by little, I felt the tension of being completely on guard every moment leave me. I ended up spending 2 days relaxing, drinking wine with my friends and hanging with those gorgeous horses. And her amazing husband Sean, and her daughter and brand-new grand baby, and a dog, and a few cats.
